October is Canadian Library Month!

Sep. 05, 2024

October is Canadian Library Month (CLM)! All month long, libraries across Canada are raising awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadians’ lives.

More than just a place to find books, libraries promote cultural awareness, engage in the community, provide educational programs, support freedom of expression, and so much more.

Promoting CLM is a great way to increase awareness and build connections between your library and the community. Marigold libraries have held special events or initiatives to celebrate – for example, offering prizes or raffle entries for anyone who signs up during CLM, social media campaigns to highlight local authors, or hosting special programs like a “human library.”

CLM also includes First Nations Public Library Week (the first week of October) and Canadian Library Workers Day (the third Friday in October).

For further information about CLM and to access official graphics and printables, click here to visit the CLM website.

Marigold member library staff can also access the Content Bank on the Marigold Shared Drive for a Campaign Toolkit that contains campaign planning and promotion tips, copy for social media and newsletter, as well as social media graphics, website banners, and printables.
