Kits & Games

Need ideas for in-library programming? Marigold has developed a selection of kits, games, and other shared resources for member library staff to use for library programming. 

To pre-book items for programs, please fill out the Kits & Games Booking Request form. All items are a 1 week loan unless otherwise noted. 

Please note these items are NOT for public borrowing.

Coyote & Crow
A picture of the Coyote and Crow handbook and Naasii dice game.

A fantasy tabletop roleplaying game set in a First Nations alternate future where colonization never happened. This kit includes the official rulebook and Naasii dice game.

Naasii can be played independently of the role playing game, or the dice can be used for the roleplaying game. Additional roleplaying resources, including an introductory story walkthrough, can be found on the Coyote & Crow website.

Rainbow Jenga

This variation on Jenga requires you to pull the colour of block that you rolled on the die.

Werewolf

An easy to learn roleplaying card game that's great for groups of 7-35 players. The manufacturer recommends this game for ages 12 and up. 

Button Maker Kits

Choice of 2 1/4 inch or 3 inch button maker. Comes with button parts and instructions.

Maximum of 200 buttons a year per library. 

Candy Sushi
A picture of assorted candies including rice krispies, fruit by the foot, marshmallows, and nerds.

Let your imagination run wild as you create "sushi" out of rice krispies squares and candy!

Maximum of 150 participant supplies a year per library.

Seasonal

This craft kit changes four times a year with the seasons. Each kit contains supplies for at least three different crafts. Keep an eye on your email to see which crafts are coming next!

Story Robe

This craft kit teaches a way that the Blackfoot culture tells stories. Participants can create their own story robe with the provided materials. The kit also includes a program outline and explanation of story robes.

Tipi

This craft kit includes materials for making miniature tipis. The kit includes a book about tipis and a program outline with additional context and instructions.

Turtle Island

This craft kit includes materials for making a turtle. This kit includes an explanation sheet telling the story of Turtle Island.

 

Binocular Kit

This kit contains 5 binoculars, each with a case and a stand. Also included are two Alberta Invasive Plant Identification Guides as well as 3 copies of each Alberta Nature Booklet "Trees & Wildflowers", "Birds", and "Wildlife", and a set of notebooks. This kit is great for bird watching, outdoor education, species identification, and more! 

Code-a-Pillar

Code-a-pillar encourages preschoolers to arrange (and rearrange) the easy-to-connect segments in endless combinations to send Code-a-pillar on a journey. This learning toy encourages experimentation while developing important skills like problem solving, planning & sequencing and critical thinking.

littleBits

A system of easy-to-use electronic building blocks that snap together with magnets to make learning about circuitry and electronics exciting and engaging. Includes "Base Inventor Kit", "Deluxe Kit", and "Space Kit". Activity instructions and ideas can be found on the littleBits website

Microscope Kit

This kit includes 16 handheld pocket microscopes and 60 prepared slides. Use the provided slides, or have participants find their own specimens to observe. The microscopes are portable and battery powered, making them flexible for indoor and outdoor programming. This kit is perfect for programming for all ages! 

Animation Kit

Perfect for teens and adults, this kit has everything you need for an animation or drawing program. It includes 5 light up tracing boards, artist gloves, sketch pencils, tracing paper, and a set of animation guide books. 

Karaoke Machine

Comes with 2 microphones, RCA cables, adaptors, and 45 CDs. 

Mobile Podcast and Photo Booth

This mobile podcast studio includes a pop up greenscreen, ring light with a stand, and 4 microphones that connect right to your phone, tablet, or computer. Use it to record audio or video, take marketing photos, set up a themed photo booth, and more! The kit also includes easy instructions to get you started right out of the box.

These kits are already prepared for you to use! Let the children enjoy listening to stories, singing songs, and playing with toys and puppets. Choose from three different themes:

This kit is intended for your library board or facilitator to use for small community planning meetings. All you need is a flip chart and a stand! 

This kit is available for a minimum loan of 4 weeks.
