Children's Summer Reading Program

TD Summer Reading Club 2017: Salut!

A book or story, a library, our country: What do they all have in common? Each one welcomes you, inspires you, makes room for new ideas, and gives you space to explore and shape your identity.

It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, where you come from or what you believe. In the year of Canada's 150th birthday, the TD Summer Reading Club invites kids to celebrate what makes books, libraries and Canada great, by encouraging them to open up to new ideas, new characters, new landscapes, and to one another.

So look forward to some great illustrations, book recommendations, ideas, and fun with the 2017 TD Summer Reading Club. Salut!  -- TD Summer Reading Club

Artist for 2017 Program

We are pleased to introduce the 2017 TD Summer Reading Club illustrator, Slavka Kolesar. Slavka was born in Montreal, studied art in Toronto, and currently resides in British Columbia. She also studied art and culture at Visva Bharati University in India. These experiences throughout Canada and abroad are reflected in her unique artistic style. Slavka’s colourful and beautiful imagery can be seen in the children’s books La légende du CarcajouCaracol and Le Nom de l’Arbre (the latter of which won the 3 x 3 Children’s Illustrator Silver Award in 2016). Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at the United Nations in New York.
